PRF Facial Rejuvenation

PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) is a cosmetic treatment that uses a natural substance derived from the patient’s own blood to rejuvenate and treat delicate areas of skin on the face.

What is PRF?

Platelet-Rich Fibrin is a second-generation platelet concentrate. It is obtained by drawing a small amount of the patient’s blood and then centrifuging it to separate the components. Unlike Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), which also uses a centrifuge process, PRF is spun at a lower speed and no additional anti-coagulants are added to the blood. This allows more white blood cells, stem cells, and platelets to remain in the fibrin matrix, which is thought to enhance the healing and rejuvenating properties, and is overall considered to be more natural.

Where is PRF Used?

Two great areas where PRF can be of benefit are under the eyes and around the mouth. Both of these areas tend to show the stresses of aging early. The skin under the eyes is some of the thinnest on the face and the area around the mouth is of course constantly mobile which make them both a challenge to treat. Using this very natural treatment in these areas is both safe and effective.

What is the procedure like?

  1. Blood Draw: A small amount of the patient’s blood is drawn, similar to a routine blood test.
  2. Centrifugation: The blood is placed in a centrifuge to separate the PRF from other components.
  3. Preparation: The PRF is carefully extracted and prepared for injection.
  4. Injection: The PRF is injected into the areas where rejuvenation is desired.

What are the benefits of PRF?

  1. Natural and Biocompatible: Since PRF is derived from the patient’s own blood, there is minimal risk of allergic reactions.
  2. Enhanced Healing: PRF contains growth factors, cytokines, and a fibrin matrix, which promote tissue regeneration and healing.
  3. Reduction of Dark Circles and Fine Lines: PRF can improve skin texture, reduce dark circles, and minimize fine lines and wrinkles.
  4. Stimulation of Collagen Production: The growth factors in PRF stimulate collagen production, which can improve skin elasticity and firmness over time.

How long is the Procedure?

The procedure typically takes about 45 minutes to an hour.

What is the recovery from the procedure?

There will be some swelling at the injection sites. This may be more prominent on the second day but usually subsides within a few days. Results can be seen gradually over the weeks and months following the treatment as the PRF stimulates tissue regeneration.

PRF is an increasingly popular, natural treatment option for individuals looking to rejuvenate their appearance with minimal risk and downtime. Contact us today to discuss this fantastic treatment!
